In honor of it being so close to kickoff, Front Porch Football is counting down the Top 10 Greatest Moments/Plays in SEC Football since 2010. These plays are selected not only because of their significance, but also because of how insane, bizarre, and epic the moment was. With that being said, we are 4 Days from Kickoff so here is the 4th best play since 2010.
October 4, 2014. Alabama at Ole Miss.
There were so many huge plays in this game. Ward’s forced fumble on Christian White and Golson’s interception to seal the win both should be mentioned as huge plays for Ole Miss, but without this touchdown none of that matters. Late in the fourth quarter, Ole Miss came storming back against the top-ranked Crimson Tide of Alabama. After tying the game on a huge touchdown pass, Ole Miss was able to force a turnover on the following kickoff setting up this game winning touchdown toss.
The quarterback for Ole Miss, Bo Wallace, is up there with Derek Dooley in terms of being a Front Porch Football Cult Hero. Wallace was a wild, tough, competitive, Southern gun-slinger who played the second half of his life that day in Oxford. After the game was over, I remember my dad saying, “It doesn’t matter what happens for the rest of the season, Bo Wallace will never have to buy a drink in Oxford, Mississippi ever again.” He’s probably right. It was Ole Miss’s first win over a top-ranked team and it came against Alabama who has dominated that series. This was a good ole fashioned SEC Saturday.
