Mock Draft 2.0 (Pre Free Agency)

by Harris Oates

All picks are as of Friday March 8, 2019

1. Arizona Cardinals: Nick Bosa – Edge – Ohio State

Although the universe has been calling for the Cardinals to trade Rosen and draft Murray, a pro ready pass rusher the caliber of Bosa is hard to resist. They elect to stick with their guns and build around Rosen rather than risking it all for Murray.

4. Oakland Raiders: Montez Sweat – DE – Mississippi State

The Raiders look to replace Kalil Mack and beef up the Raiders’ defense. Sweat’s stock rose more than anybody else in the combine and could’ve gone first overall in a lot of prior draft classes.

5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Devin White – LB – LSU

As many thought the Bucs would target an offensive lineman, their biggest need is linebacker with the departure of Kwon Alexander. White will anchor that defense for years to come as he is by far the best Linebacker in the draft class.

6. Cincinnati Bengals (Traded from NYG) : Dwayne Haskins – QB – Ohio State

With Haskins slipping outside the top 5, the Bengals see the opportunity to trade up and grab their guy for the future. The Bengals move on from Andy Dalton and move towards developing a new quarterback.

10. Denver Broncos: Rashan Gary – DL – Michigan

The Broncos decide not to draft a quarterback in the first, but instead take the physical defensive lineman from Michigan. With Flacco still on the roster they elect to pair up a rookie to learn behind Von Miller.

11. New York Giants (Traded from Cin): Daniel Jones – QB – Duke

The Giants love Jones, perhaps because he has so many similarities to Eli Manning. After trading back and acquiring a future pick they get their QB to train behind the future Hall of Famer, Eli Manning.

14. Atlanta Falcons: Greedy Williams – DB – LSU

Williams is by far the best cornerback in this class and will help to legitimize this weak Falcons secondary. He is a steal at 14 and shows how stacked this draft class is.

16. Carolina Panthers: Brian Burns – DE – Florida State

With the departure of NFL Hall of Famer Julius Peppers, the Panthers draft one of the more talented and experienced defensive end prospects. In a division with such great quarterbacks, talented defensive ends are a must.

17. Cleveland Browns: Ed Oliver – DT – Houston

Oliver slides all the way to 17th overall but plugs into the Browns much improved defense perfectly.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers: N’Keal Harry – WR – Arizona State

After losing two playmakers, the Steelers take the dynamic Wide Receiver out of Arizona State. Harry might not be as physically gifted as Metcalf but is the most complete Receiver this year.

24. Oakland Raiders: Jachai Polite – DE – Florida

Polite’s stock falls after interviewing poorly at the combine, but the Raider’s are willing to take the risk with having selected Allen already – especially if it means they can beef up their pass defense.

25. Philadelphia Eagles: Byron Murphy – CB – Washington

The Eagles started a record 14 players in their secondary last season and look to draft their future star defensive back. Murphy is a bit undersized but should be a long time starter.

The Colts pick the big bodied Wide Receiver out of Iowa State to give Luck another dependable target.

The Packers take Hockenson, despite running a low 40 yard dash, in hopes of turning him into the next Rob Gronkowski.

The Rams pick up a versatile offensive lineman who can further strengthen their dynamic offense.

32. New England Patriots: Deebo Samuel – WR – South Carolina
