FPF Draft Central Game of the Week: Georgia vs Notre Dame

by Harris Oates

Film Study – Jake Fromm

Film Analyzed: 2018 vs Auburn, 2019 Sugar Bowl vs Texas, 2019 vs Arkansas State

Strengths

  • Very Pure Arm, physically gifted
  • Above average mechanics
  • Extremely accurate on the mid to long range balls and applies great touch
  • NFL size and arm strength
  • Great intangibles (vision and leadership)

Weaknesses

  • Sometimes cinder block feet in pocket
  • Slower than average release

Synopsis:

Anyone who is good enough to produce the statistics and win totals that Fromm has (in the SEC) should be considered a top tier quarterback talent. He has also won quarterback battles over fellow 5-Stars (and NFL prospects) Justin Fields and Jacob Eason in consecutive seasons. Right now, I see Fromm at the top of the class along with Eason, Herbert and Tagovailoa. The one aspect that separates him from the rest of the class are his intangibles and leadership qualities that will bode well in the draft process.

Others to Watch in FPF Draft Central Game of the Week: Georgia vs Notre Dame

D’Andre Swift – It’ll be a treat to see one of the best athletes in the country go against a struggling Notre Dame run defense (currently averaging 230 yards per game allowed and 5 yards per attempt). Swift has the best patience in this draft class which pair perfectly with his elite burst of quickness.

Andrew Thomas vs. Julian Okwara – Two First Round Prospects go head to head, each facing their biggest test of the season. Thomas (UGA LT) is the anchor of Georgia’s offensive line and could be taken in the top 5. Okwara is one of the major keys that Notre Dame has the 4th best pass defense in the nation.

George Pickins – As an Auburn fan, it rips out my heart every time I see the true freshman emerge as next Georgia great WR. Look for Pickins to be tested this week against a veteran secondary.

Prediction:

Georgia 27 (-14.5), Notre Dame 10

Notre Dame has an elite pass defense and Georgia has an elite passer. Look for a slow start from UGA, but for Swift to break through for a big night (200+ yards).

Other Picks:

Auburn 35, Texas A&M 17 (-4)

Wisconsin 28(-3), Michigan 10

BYU 30, Washington 20 (-6.5)

UVA 55 (-27), ODU 7

Oklahoma State 30, Texas 28 (-7)
