2019 Mock Draft 1.0
by Harris Oates
1. Arizona Cardinals: Nick Bosa
Position: Edge
College: Ohio State
Bosa is a no brainer if the Cardinals want to go defense overall. Also look for them to trade to a team looking to move up to get the QB they are targeting.
2. New York Giants (From 49ers): Daniel Jones
Position: Quarterback
College: Duke
The Giants see the opportunity and shell out several draft picks to take the QB of the future that will learn from Eli Manning.
3. Jacksonville Jaguars (From Jets): Dwayne Haskins
Position: Quarterback
College: Ohio State
As the QBs start to go sooner than predicted the Jaguars trade Leonard Fournette and their first rounder to the Jets to take the guy they’ve been targeting.
4. Oakland Raiders: Josh Allen
Position: Edge
College: Kentucky
Gruden takes advantage of one of the best pass rushers that is still on the board and looks to replace Khalil Mack.
5. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Quinnen Williams
Position: Defensive Tackle
College: Alabama
The Buccaneers take the best available on the board to pair up with Gerald McCoy. Bucs opt to go defense and focus on skill players later in the draft.
6. San Francisco 49ers (from Giants): N’Keal Harry
Position: Wide Receiver
College: Arizona State
49ers snag the top Wide Receiver in the draft and look to give Jimmy G a dominant do-it-all type playmaker.
7. New York Jets: Devin White
Position: Linebacker
College: LSU
Jets take the dominant Linebacker that wreaked havoc in the SEC. White and Adams become one of the best defensive tandems in the NFL.
8. Detroit Lions: Greedy Williams
Position: Cornerback
College: LSU
Greedy is the second LSU Tiger drafted right after his teammate Devin White. The Lions will look for pass catchers later in the draft since their target was already taken 6th.
9. Buffalo Bills: Dalton Risner
Position: Offensive Line
College: Kansas State
Bills seem to have found a somewhat permanent Quarterback. Next step in the process is to keep him healthy. Risner is the most pro ready lineman in the draft.
10. Denver Broncos: Drew Lock
Position: Quarterback
College: Missouri
Elway holds back from trading up and gets the QB of the future. Lock offers solid size and has a cannon. His potential is endless.
11. Cincinnati Bengals: Ed Oliver
Position: Defensive Tackle
College: Houston
The September favorite who quit on his team finally is taken at 11 overall. Oliver is a work in progress who will be a longtime pro, but his work ethic and loyalty may still be in question.
12. Green Bay Packers: Clelin Ferrell
Position: Edge
College: Clemson
The Packers take what could end up being the best defensive end in the draft.
13. Miami Dolphins: Will Grier
Position: Quarterback
College: West Virginia
The Dolphins opt to take the 4th QB overall and find a long-term solution in Grier. He offers great mechanics and is a gamer, something that has been lacking in Miami since Marino.
14. Atlanta Falcons: Deandre Baker
Position: Cornerback
College: Georgia
The hometown favorite is taken by the Falcons as they look to give their struggling secondary a face lift. Now that Sarkisian is gone, Trufant and Alford might become the most hated Falcons in Atlanta.
15. Washington Redskins: Marquise Brown
Position: Wide Receiver
College: Oklahoma
Instead of taking a QB, the Redskins opt for a dynamic playmaker. Hollywood Brown works will in the system and will soon be linked with a long-term solution at QB.
16. Carolina Panthers: Deionte Thompson
Position: Safety
College: Alabama
The Panther’s biggest offseason task will be to resign Eric Reid, but finding a partner in the secondary is almost as important. The Panthers haven’t been the same since losing Josh Norman and Kurt Coleman from their Super Bowl secondary.
17. Cleveland Browns: Dexter Lawrence
Position: Defensive Tackle
College: Clemson
Dexter Lawrence is the best available and the Browns look to add to their ever-improving defensive line. This is a team that will be in the playoffs very soon.
18. Minnesota Vikings: Jonah Williams
Position: Offensive Tackle
College: Alabama
Vikings realize it is time to beef up the offensive line since they have already invested so much in their struggling QB.
19. Tennessee Titans: Jachai Polite
Position: Edge
College: Florida
Polite is just one of the many talented defensive lineman on the board and the Titans look to add depth.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers: Noah Fant
Position: Tight End
College: Iowa
Fant is the best Tight End in the draft and will become a legitimate option for Big Ben. Who knows what happens with the Antonio Brown and Le’veon Bell sagas, but it means that the Steelers will probably have to focus on an offensive weapon.
21. Seattle Seahawks: Rashan Gary
Position: Defensive End
College: Michigan
Gary had a great season with Michigan and will look to replace what Seattle has lost since their Super Bowl rosters.
22. Baltimore Ravens: Jeffery Simmons
Position: Defensive Line
College: Mississippi State
Simmons is a very versatile defensive lineman who will help bring this team back to the playoffs.
23. Houston Texans: Josh Jacobs
Position: Running Back
College: Alabama
Jacobs becomes RB1 and improves a weak Texans run game. Jacobs phases in while Miller moves more into a situational back.
24. Oakland Raiders (From Chicago): Christian Wilkins
Position: Defensive Line
College: Clemson
The Raiders use their second pick to take another talented defender.
25. Philadelphia Eagles: Bryce Hall
Position: Cornerback
College: Virginia
The Eagles started 14 different players in their secondary this season and will look to never let that happen again. Hall will be groomed to become the top corner young in the NFC East.
26. Indianapolis Colts: JJ Arcega-Whiteside
Position: Wide Receiver
College: Stanford
Now that Luck has proven to be healthy, the Colts take a true possession receiver. Arcega-Whiteside was one of the most reliable targets in all of college football.
27. Oakland Raiders (From Dallas): AJ Brown
Position: Wide Receiver
College: Ole Miss
The Raiders use their third pick to take a physical specimen at WR. Brown will do well in filling in for what they lost with Cooper.
28. LA Chargers: Cody Ford
Position: Offensive Line
College: Oklahoma
The Chargers take a sleeper lineman who will be an instant starter.
29. Kansas City Chiefs: Brian Burns
Position: Edge
College: Florida State
With a high chance of Dee Ford leaving, especially after a huge penalty in the AFC Championship, they will look to fill the gap with Burns.
30. Green Bay Packers (from New Orleans): Zach Allen
Position: Edge
College: Boston College
The Packers take the best available, which happens to be a defensive end who has fallen from the top 15 like he was expected. They end up taking two dominant defensive ends who become an all-time great tandem.
31. LA Rams: Taylor Rapp
Position: Safety
College: Washington
The Rams take the guy who dominated the Pac-12. Rapp is a true ball hawk that has qualities similar to a young Earl Thomas.
32. New England Patriots: Oshane Ximines
Position: Edge
College: Old Dominion
After winning the Super Bowl, the Pats elect to take the most undercover guy in the draft. Pats stay winning and stock up on talent.
