Love, Time & Labor – Thanks Y’all
by the Paschal Brothers
As Brendan and I drove back from the beach yesterday morning, we started to reflect on what has been an incredible year for Front Porch Football.
2018 was a year of many firsts. To start, we were able to get our first official website sponsorship from Doug Etheridge at RBC Bank, an incredible first step in our young journey, and a step that we are extremely grateful for.
We were also able to come out with official Front Porch Football koozies. These koozies have found there way into the hands of Gamecocks, Tigers, Bulldogs, Volunteers, and numerous other SEC fans. Those koozies were also a hot commodity at our first ever Front Porch Football tailgate, which we hope will be the first of many.
Front Porch Football was also able to have an old Charlotte friend, Harris Oates, join us in a capacity we never could have imagined. Not only has Harris helped us with our NFL Draft coverage, but he has also been the mastermind behind some of our most popular Instagram posts.
Yes, 2018 brought about some excellent changes and additions to Front Porch Football. And while some things changed, a few others stayed the same. Michael Pavy and Max McDougald (two great friends and loyal subscribers) came back for another year of Porch Picks, Brendan continued to produce some excellent and humorous videos, and Chris continues to find a way to infuriate both South Carolina and Clemson fans simultaneously.
Of course, like most websites, our numbers are what drive the bottom line. We are happy to report that 2018 was a success in this regard. Front Porch Football gained over one thousand new followers on our Social Media platforms in 2018. We were also able to get more of you involved. This year alone, Front Porch Football had over a dozen guest writers send in high quality and compelling material that was featured on the website. That is a trend we hope to continue into 2019.
We also were able to blow our 2017 website view numbers out of the water. In 2017, we had 12,631 views total views on the website. This past year we finished just shy of 60,000 total views on the website. We hope to shatter the 2018 numbers this new year!
We are both very touched by all of the support over the years. It is often said that love, labor and time are some of the most precious things someone can offer to another human being. Y’all have given us all three. We feel the love and support each and every day. Whether it is someone sharing our post on Facebook, or putting one of our koozies around their beverage, or simply shooting us a text offering their thoughts and opinions, we have some of the best patrons in the country!
You have offered your labor, as well. We already mentioned many of you have sent us your own written pieces, which have been wildly popular, but y’all have offered your labor in many other forms. One example of that would be the McDougald family who has helped us throughout the years, and this past December 29th for our first Front Porch Football tailgate, the McDougald family sprang into action helping make the tailgate a success.
Then there is your time. Time is precious because we never get it back. Many of you have devoted and spent your time helping Front Porch Football. That means the world to us. There are so many of you we could personally thank for helping us this past year, and even more of you we could personally thank for sharing their time. We won’t do it here in fear of missing someone, but you know who you are. We know who you are. Many of you we know personally. Others of you we haven’t met. Yet whether you are a close friend from high school or someone from Wetumpka or DeSoto County or Chicago whom we haven’t met, one thing is for sure, we will never forget you and we are forever indebted to you.
2018 was just the beginning. And as we hope Front Porch Football begins to take a form in 2019 that we have always hoped it would take, we are also glad that so many of you respect what we are all about. Because at the end of the day, we’re just two brothers… sitting on a porch… talking SEC Football. And that isn’t going to change anytime soon.
