How long have you been a fan of Alabama?
Before I profess my love for all things crimson, I indeed grew up a Clemson Tiger and had the absolute pleasure of attending UA amongst the current Clemson/Bama rivalry (talk about some nice family dinner conversations). I have been a true Alabama fan since I was 16 and will continue to roll with the tide until my last day.
Who was the most influential person in turning you into an Alabama fan?
Our family friends (shout out to the Griffith’s and Gaido’s) got me hooked on Alabama while watching the 2012 Bama vs. LSU game. (21-0, Alabama). They introduced a new way to celebrate each touchdown… which was to pass a 5th of fireball around the room for some celebratory shots- definitely a crowd pleaser.
What is your favorite building in Tuscaloosa, AL?
Bryant Denny Stadium
If you had to recite a movie by heart to win one million dollars what movie would you pick?
I’m going to channel my inner 1998 Lindsay Lohan on this one and go with The Parent Trap. I’m pretty confident I would win the million with this classic. Never was a fan of oreos and peanut butter but I have learned the infamous handshake but whatever you say, Cruella.
What is the best thing about tailgating in Tuscaloosa, AL?
Hands down the atmosphere. Doesn’t matter if it’s an 11am or 8pm game, everyone is up and ready to roll early in the morning. Majority of my game days were spent getting ready at the ChiO house and walking across the stadium lawn to tailgate at Phi Gam. Jam bands, yellow hammers and BBQ would hold us over until our 2nd quarter cravings for the infamous Denny Dog!
Groundhog Day Scenario – If you had to relieve a day you’ve already experienced every day for the rest of your life what day would you choose?
If we’re being sentimental; the day I got engaged to my fiancé, who I met my sophomore year at Alabama. He had secretly gathered all of our friends we met along the way during our 4 years in Tuscaloosa and man did we celebrate big!
If we’re talking football; the 2015 National Championship in Glendale, Arizona. We had the opportunity to sit with the Alabama player’s families. The best of the best and truly priceless in every way.
What was one Halloween costume you loved growing up?
I went through a Pirates of the Caribbean phase where I was obsessed with Captain Jack Sparrow. I dressed up with the beard, dreadlocks and all (but not the rum).
Do you have a favorite Gameday tradition?
Winning. Other than that, I’d have to say Dixieland Delight being played at the start of the 4th quarter each home game. I have chills thinking about it. They hadn’t played it is a few years due to “students abusing the privileges”, however the last home game my senior year- they played it and I thought the stands were going to fall in. Something everyone should experience at least once in his or her life.
If you could only see one shade of color for the rest of your life what would you choose?
Crimson. Next question.
After a late night of “studying” did you have a go to restaurant you and your friends would go to?
Thankfully, Alabama graced their students with what is Innisfree and its Irish Gold sauce. It is to die for and a must try for first time Tuscaloosa visitors.
